Smoking Cessation Workshops
Sponsored by the American Cancer Society and facilitated by Cardiopulmonary Rehab, this year-round program offers participants a FREE workshop designed to teach them how to stop smoking. For dates and times of the next session, please call (301) 877-7370.

Heart Failure Management Class
Fourth Tuesday of every month, 10 to 11 a.m.
This FREE class provides an understanding of heart failure, symptoms, and management. To register, call (301) 877-7370.
 
C.A.R.E Group
Quarterly, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Cardiac and Respiratory Education (C.A.R.E.) Group provides information and support to individuals and their families for successful management and control of lung and breathing impairment, and cardiovascular disease. There is no charge and preregistration is required. For additional information, please call (301) 877-7370.

CPR Certification/Re-Certification
Open to the public, this class covers adult one-rescuer CPR, pediatric one-rescuer CPR, adult two-rescuer, and barrier devices. Fee: $45 for certification, includes book and AHA card. Preregistration is required. Participants from the community must pay prior to date of class to confirm reservation. Please register at the Cashier’s Office on the hospital’s first floor. Mallwalkers Programs
St. Charles Towne Center, Waldorf
Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

The Center at Forestville, Forestville
First and Third Wednesdays, 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Enjoy supervised, all-weather walking with free blood pressure monitoring. Participants of all ages are encouraged to join. For additional information, call (301) 877-5700.

Blood Pressure Screenings
Free Blood Pressure screenings offered to the general public every Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Hospital Solarium.

Stress Management Workshops
Bi-monthly, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
These FREE workshops teach individuals to be aware of the signs of stress and the importance of taking actions that reduce the stress in order to enhance their health and quality of life. To register, please call (301) 877-7370.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
Cardiac Rehabilitation at Southern Maryland Hospital Center is a multidisciplinary approach toward recovery and prevention of additional cardiac events. The program’s emphasis is to assist in the healing process and help individuals make healthy lifestyle changes that will enable them to return to work, to resume normal daily activities, and to enjoy life more… as soon as possible.

Cardiac Risk Reduction Center
Don’t make time to be sick later, make time to stay healthy now.
As the area’s leading facility in cardiovascular programs, SMHC is the home of the Outpatient Cardiac Risk Reduction Center, specializing in the identification, prevention and management of chronic cardiovascular conditions. Services are provided for individuals who have a pre-existing cardiac condition and those who are at risk for developing cardiac disease.

Our multidisciplinary team of clinicians and Board-certified cardiologists stands ready to help patients identify Risk Factors related to cardiovascular disease, and to help them make the appropriate changes to improve and protect their health. The Cardiac Risk Reduction Center provides identification and management of chronic cardiac conditions and diseases. Patient will receive one-on-one assessment by a registered nurse and board certified cardiologist to identify their risk factors related to cardiac disease. The program is dedicated to reducing those risks, and assisting patients to make the appropriate changes to improve and protect their health based on nationally established goals. Freedom From Smoking
Addiction can be broken. Call about our smoking cessation classes. The program follows the format and recommendations of the American Lung Association who have been helping smokers for many years.
