Cardiology Services

Cardiac Risk Reduction Center

Don’t make time to be sick later, make time to stay healthy now. Provides identification and management of chronic cardiac conditions and diseases. Patient will receive one-on-one assessment by a registered nurse and board certified cardiologist to identify their risk factors related to cardiac disease. The program is dedicated to reducing those risks, and assisting patients to make the appropriate changes to improve and protect their health based on nationally established goals. Patients receive individualized attention and follow-up. Vascular Services

Vascular diseases pertain to blood vessels and include aneurysms, chronic occlusive arterial disease, varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis (a blood clot deep in a vein), hardening of the arteries, carotid artery disease and chronic venous insufficiency (where blood begins to pool in veins). Treatable if addressed by a specialist, these problems can become serious if ignored.

SMHC is the only facility in the Southern Maryland area that offers an innovative procedure by specially trained vascular surgeons – called a stent graft – to repair abdominal aortic aneurysms and carotid artery due to carotid stenosis. Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation

The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center here at SMHC, is a multidisciplinary approach toward recovery, prevention and treatment of our participants.  Individuals most appropriate for this program are those who have certain forms of heart and or lung complications.
