	24-Hour Intensive Care Physicians: Southern Maryland Hospital Center has a Critical Care Physician on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to address all urgent care needs.
	24-Hour Hospitalists: Southern Maryland Hospital Center is the only facility in the region that has a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week Hospitalist on site to ensure consistent patient care coverage.
	All Board-Certified Physicians: All newly appointed Physicians on the Southern Maryland Hospital Center Medical Staff are required to be Board-Certified or Board -Eligible in their particular specialties.
	Emergency Angioplasty: Southern Maryland Hospital Center provides Emergency Angioplasty in its State-of-the-Art Cardiac Catheterization Suites.
	Designated Stroke Center: SMHC physicians are highly trained in the immediate and long-term treatment of stroke victims. Patients are admitted directly into our designated Stroke Center from the emergency room in order to receive special treatment.
	Advanced Surgical Services: We have the area’s most advanced surgical capability, including all procedures from minor outpatient surgery to neurosurgery. Our medical staff is highly skilled in the increasingly utilized laparascopic, arthroscopic and laser surgical methods.
	Level II Special Care Nursery: SMHC has the region's only Level II Special Care Nursery (SCN) to provide the special care needed for sick babies or those with complications.
