Whether you are visiting Southern Maryland Hospital for a brief appointment, a day of testing, an extended stay or simply to offer your support as a visitor, we know you may have questions before you come. VISITING A PATIENT?
The following information is provided to help you plan your visit to Southern Maryland Hospital Center. Our guidelines are designed to help protect our patients, their families and other visitors. Please read this information carefully. Your understanding is important for the safety of our patients.

Visitors are asked to check in upon entering the building
and obtain a visitors pass. The visitors pass must be worn
during your visit, and a new pass must be obtained every
day you visit.

General visitor guidelines

  • No more than two people may visit a patient at one time.
  • No children under the age of 12 may visit the nursing units unless pre-approved by the head nurse of the unit.
  • Visitors with colds, coughs or other contagious illnesses are asked to remain at home until they are well.
  • The Hospital reserves the right to limit visitors in the best interests of patients, families, visitors or staff.
  • Southern Maryland Hospital Center is a smoke-free institution.
